Reach Out For Support
Beacon of Light 071

Welcome

The Beacon of Light School is a place where education and opportunity light the way to a brighter future.

We are an 80‑place Alternative Provision for young people aged 13–16 who face challenges in mainstream education. Our curriculum provides life‑changing opportunities, improving academic progress while supporting long‑term outcomes in training, employment and wellbeing.

Students are at the heart of our community. We offer rich and varied learning experiences that build skills, confidence and character so every young person can reach their full potential. We recognise each student as an individual and provide personalised, authentic learning that nurtures talent, promotes inclusion, builds resilience and raises aspirations. Our staff design tailored pathways that support strong progress from each starting point.

We deliver exceptional learning through a broad and balanced curriculum that blends academic, vocational and personal development. This approach builds knowledge and skills over time while preparing students for further education, employment and adult life.

Across our community, we aim to:

  • Develop confident, independent and enquiring learners.

  • Promote honesty, kindness, respect and inclusion so everyone feels valued.

  • Hold high expectations and aspirations for every student, recognising and valuing their individual starting points.

  • Provide a curriculum that builds knowledge, skills and cultural capital.

  • Champion diversity, inclusion and British values.

We embed employability, independence and real‑world learning so students develop the resilience and practical skills needed for life beyond school.

Our goal is for every young person to value learning and leave Beacon of Light prepared for their next steps in education, employment and adulthood.

By investing in our young people today, we secure the future they deserve — empowering them to learn more, do more and be more.
