ICT

The ICT curriculum at Key stage 3 covers the development of office documents that will support students in selecting and confidently using programs both for educational purposes and for tasks and projects in the real world. This will assist students to complete tasks required to move into further education or in a workplace environment.  The curriculum covers the main programs included in Microsoft Office.

At Key Stage 4 students complete the Btec IT qualification.  This requires the completion of five different units covering different scenarios, programs and theory.  The units that have been picked to be completed should give the students greater confidence to use ICT once they have left the Beacon of Light.  The course has been identified by businesses and higher education bodies to develop the necessary skills required in a post 16 environment.  The course is a pass/merit/distinction qualification.

Internet safety and appropriate use of social media platforms is delivered to all year groups.
