Vocational Art & Design

As well as a means of expressing individuality and developing creativity, art is an essential part of a broad and balanced curriculum.

It encourages independent learning through experimentation, exploration and innovation and the value of cultural learning is significant.

This invaluable “cultural currency” can be transferred and applied across many areas and ideas – not just through traditional creative subjects like art.

Students explore the BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Art & Design through:

Unit 1 —Explore 2 Dimensions
Unit 2 — A Project in 2 or 3 Dimensions
Unit 7 — Explore Mixed Media
Unit 12 — A Personal Project

The range of projects covered will give students knowledge, understanding and skills with a work-related focus so they can be prepared for the next stage along their vocational pathway – be this college, apprenticeship or training.
