Beacon of Light School Celebrates Silver Staff Wellbeing Award Success
BackBeacon of Light School is proud to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious Silver Schools Impact Award for Staff Wellbeing, recognising the school's ongoing commitment to creating a positive, supportive and inclusive workplace for all staff.
The award highlights the significant progress made by the school in placing staff wellbeing at the heart of its culture. Assessors praised the school's authentic and people-centred approach, noting the positive impact that listening to staff voice and encouraging open conversations around mental health has had across the organisation.
The school was commended for creating a supportive staff community, where colleagues feel heard, valued and supported. Assessors also recognised the school's personalised approach to wellbeing, acknowledging that support is tailored to individual needs rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all model.
Particular praise was given to the school's work in showing staff appreciation. Through a range of initiatives led by the Wellbeing Team, staff reported feeling increasingly recognised, respected and valued. The award feedback highlighted the visible and sustainable impact these measures have had on staff wellbeing.
The school was also recognised for creating a positive and healthy working environment and for coordinating meaningful support for staff wellbeing, demonstrating clear progress throughout its wellbeing journey.
The achievement follows further recognition earlier this year when Beacon of Light School was named a finalist in the Employee Health and Wellbeing category at the Northern Echo BusinessIQ Awards.
"I am absolutely delighted that we have achieved the Silver Schools Impact Award for Staff Wellbeing. This is a significant milestone and a powerful recognition of the culture we have built together as a school community.
"Staff wellbeing is not just a policy for us. It is a lived value that underpins everything we do. This award reflects the compassion, commitment and support shown by our staff every day and demonstrates the importance we place on ensuring people feel valued, heard and supported."
- Louise Smith, School Business Manager at Beacon of Light School
Louise also paid tribute to the school's dedicated Wellbeing Team, made up of herself, Lynsey McCulloch, Eve Waller and Josh Smith, whose commitment and passion have helped drive the school's wellbeing strategy forward.
"I would like to thank Lynsey, Eve and Josh for their dedication and enthusiasm in helping make staff wellbeing a priority across our school. This achievement belongs to everyone, but their hard work has been instrumental in helping us reach this milestone."
Beacon of Light School remains committed to building on this success and ensuring staff wellbeing continues to be a key priority for years to come.
